Your bike shouldn’t just deliver power it should respond exactly the way you want it to. The CYC Ride Control App puts that control in your hands, letting you fine-tune how your drivetrain reacts to every pedal stroke and throttle input.

Smooth, predictable sharp acceleration, immediate response, every adjustment shapes how the bike feels beneath you. This guide breaks down how to dial in that control so the power delivery becomes precise, consistent, and fully aligned with your riding style.

Use the Ride Control app to tune how your bike responds when you pedal (PAS) and when you use the throttle. Start with defaults, then make small changes to Throttle (voltage, deadband, ramp times, soft start) and Pedal Assist (torque sensitivity, power ramp, assist factor, cadence start) until the bike feels natural for your terrain and style.

What You Control
in the Ride Control App

The app lets you fine-tune Throttle and Pedal Assist behavior so the motor delivers power exactly when and how you want it. You can keep separate behaviors for Street and Race modes, then switch on the fly from your phone or display.

Throttle: Instant Control,
Tuned Your Way

When you open Settings → Throttle, you’ll see two areas: Throttle Settings (general behavior) and Throttle Ramp Times (how fast the motor responds).

Key parameters you’ll actually use:

  • Throttle Voltage Reading / Off / Full Voltage: Confirms your throttle is read correctly; Off ≈ closed position, Full = wide open. (If using a non‑CYC throttle, you may need to enter min/max manually—set assist level to 0 while checking.)
  • Fault Range: A small “buffer” so bumps don’t change speed; within this range, the output stays constant.
  • Deadband Threshold: How far you move from zero before the motor reacts (lower = snappier, higher = more deliberate).
  • Ramp Times: Controls “how quickly” power builds. Longer ramp = smoother engagement; shorter ramp = punchier feel.
  • Soft Start: Gradually brings the drivetrain into engagement before full power (especially helpful on high‑power setups).

Quick tip: If you’re troubleshooting or recalibrating throttle voltages, keep the bike in Assist Level 0 before pressing the throttle to read correct values.

Pedal Assist (PAS): Make the Bike
Feel Like Your Legs, Just Stronger

Under Settings → Pedal Assist, you shape how the bike responds to torque and cadence so assistance feels natural on climbs, flats, or technical terrain.

Core PAS controls:

  • Torque Sensor Sensitivity: How strongly the motor responds to your pedal force.

  • Power Ramp Up Time: How quickly assistance reaches target power after you start pedaling.
  • Motor Assist Factor: Multiplies your input (set lower for fitness rides, higher for steeper climbs).
  • Cadence Start: How many crank pulses before assist kicks in (lower for tight switchbacks and trials‑like moves, higher to avoid accidental engagement).
  • Pedal Backwards Cutoff: Stops assist when you back‑pedal (useful for technical moves).

Street vs Race:
Profiles That Match Your Ride

Maintain distinct Street and Race profiles so throttle and PAS outputs are appropriate for commuting vs. trail days. Switch profiles directly in the app or display.

Practical Tuning Recipes (Start Here)

Commuter (smooth & predictable):

Throttle deadband slightly higher; ramp times a bit longer; PAS power ramp longer; assist factor moderate.

Trail Climber (controlled traction):

Throttle ramp medium-long; soft start on; PAS torque sensitivity moderate-high; cadence start low for quick engagement on steep switchbacks.

Tech/Trials (precise, low-speed moves):

Throttle deadband a touch higher to avoid twitches; PAS cadence start low; power ramp short for quick bursts without spikes.

First‑Time Setup & Safety Notes

  • Make one change at a time, ride, then iterate. (You’ll feel small differences more clearly.)
  • When checking throttle min/max voltages, set Assist Level 0 so the motor doesn’t engage.
  • If the throttle behaves unexpectedly (e.g., bike moves when you switch to Assist 1), re‑run the app’s throttle setup or check voltages.
